From the Founder: Why I Created The Mama Wellness Foundation

When I founded The Mama Wellness Foundation, it wasn’t just a professional endeavor—it was a deeply personal calling. After experiencing postpartum depression myself and being told that “strong Black women always get through it,” I carried shame for needing help. But therapy saved my life. It gave me space to process my trauma, reconnect with the people who truly cared, and rediscover myself as a mother and a woman. That healing journey became the catalyst for this foundation. I created The Mama Wellness Foundation so that other Black mothers wouldn’t have to suffer in silence like I once did. We exist to provide the culturally affirming, compassionate care that every mother deserves—because your mental health matters, your story matters, and you are not alone.
